England is the heartland of Great Britain, one of the great empires throughout history. London itself is a truly modern, cosmopolitan city whose roots are firmly grounded in many centuries of history. Places like the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace (formerly the residence of Princess Diana), Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus and Hyde Park ring a bell everywhere.
Bristol is two hours from London and one hour from Cardiff. We stayed in Shrivenham, near Oxford. Our route from the airport took us past Swindon and the McArthur Glen Designer Outlets, 106 designer label shops under the one roof. Everything sold there has to be at least 30% off normal retail price but unfortunately we were between seasons and the choice of clothes was disappointing.
After about six months of artificially inflating my travel and becoming a stranger to the idea of a direct flight it finally happened. I logged on one day and realized that my frequent flyer flight count was bang on twenty nine. In other words, one trip short of the required thirty flights.
Travel has become more affordable and available to the masses, but does it really have to be less comfortable? We save time by eating lunch on the hoof. We save money by flying with no frills. We endure the crowded departure lounges and sit on the floor.
There was a small gift shop, a tourist-trap trinket place, just a hundred yards along the lane. I bought the newspaper our early departure from St. Ives had denied me, my daily fix of political gossip now long established as an essential feature of my adoption into London life.
The Gateway City of Exeter is a vibrant destination in itself with a buzzing University population and plenty to see and do. The City dates back to the Roman era and was once a stronghold garrison for the Romans known as Isca. There are some remnants of this bygone era and a lot of the local findings can be seen in the small but interesting Royal Albert Museum
Passengers’ traveling away for more than a few days the long-term option is recommended. As mentioned before there are a large number of different parking options available. So many parking companies are competing for your business on the daily.
Another important feature of a Frankfurt vacation is the fact that commuting within the city would not be a problem at all. All the major destinations in the city of Frankfurt are well connected with trams and cycling is also a good option if you are a fitness freak and like to have a real feel of international life. Meanwhile, you can always take a taxi.
Less than an hour from London by train, the city is a popular seaside destination with its cultural sites and the added benefit of the fresh sea air. Visit the exotic Royal Pavilion, home of King George IV, notable for its Indian architecture and Oriental interior design. Stroll along the Victorian Pier and the beachfront with its bars, restaurants, nightclubs and amusement arcades.
